Marshalltown Aviation was established in February of 1974 by Bill Smothers. Bill owned and operated Marshalltown Aviation and was the Marshalltown Airport Manager for 35 years. In over 35 years Bill took Marshalltown Aviation from a small flight school and refueling operation to a full-service fixed base operator with turbine aircraft charter
operation.

In July of 2009 Midland Aircraft Sales and Service, the parent company of Marshalltown Aviation, was purchased by Ethan Nasalroad and Stephen Valbracht. Stephen assumed the Airport Manager position at Marshalltown, while Ethan manages the Newton Municipal Airport. Bill continues to share his immense experience and knowledge. His many years as a Pilot, Manager, Flight Instructor, Check Airman, Salesman and Business Owner will be invaluable as he is remaining with the company as a Consultant and Pilot. Both Ethan and Stephen look forward to continuing the tradition of professionalism and quality of service
that Bill established over his 35 years of ownership.
